Celebrating 100 Years Old!

When your grandfather turns 100, you throw a 1920s big band themed party.

Scattered family across the country spanning Florida, California, Colorado, Illinois, Ohio, Wisconsin and Minnesota all made their way to the snow bird retirement capital to celebrate my Poppy’s birthday. His title to his guests range from dad, brother, grandfather, uncle, and great uncle. But once he was blessed with his first great grandfather child, and has since accumulated 5, we call him super poppy.
It was such a blessing that his 93 year old brother flew in with his entire family.
With all the joy, and all the love, and all the luck and chocolate chip cookies that have sustained his longevity, the absence of my grandmother was heavy. Married for just under 70 years, when she passed, together for over 71 years, they shared a life of world travel, arts, and shopping.
He and my grandmother got to see parts of the world few could have dreamed of at the time. My grandfather was a buyer for women’s clothing for Montgomery Ward which allowed him unique travel opportunities and experiences. They continued their world travels into their 80s and then settled into the full Florida life style, playing tennis, swimming, painting, sculpting, and walking. Lastly, the all time shopping fanatic found his new passion, exploring the aisles of Costco.
He has seen a century of history where the world has changed over so many times. Most notably, he was born the year the first ever image on a television was successfully presented to the world, and today, he connects over FaceTime with his great grandchildren across the country and even over seas when they travel.
Our time is precious. Our life is precious. Our family is precious. Or relationships are precious.
Live. Laugh. Love. To the fullest. And enjoy the chocolate chip cookies.
Happy 100th birthday to super poppy, Bob.

xoxo,
Shana Bryn
