We took our engagement photos with one of our fabulous wedding photographers, Plamen, from Domino Arts at the Morikami Japanese Gardens in Boca Raton, Florida.
I grew up going to these gardens multiple times a year. While they are stunning, that is not why these gardens hold a very special meaning for me. It is because my Great Aunt and Uncle volunteered there most weekends. They were always there to entertain and educate families. They primarily provided classes on the art of origami. I remember when they taught me how to make a flapping bird. I was about seven years old, and that night I took a flashlight under my bed covers and couldn't stop making them!
The day we took our photos was the first time I brought Cody. Each time we arrived at a new section I had another memory to share.
There was one tree that my family used to take tons of pictures on when I was a kid. While I don't know if this was the same exact tree, it was in the same area and similar enough, so we made sure to get a photo of our own. These are probably the most special for that reason.
If you are ever in South Florida, I high recommend visiting these gardens. In the winter it is much cooler, but the water levels are a little lower. In the summer, the water in so pretty, filling up the river and lake areas, but make sure to have bug spray with you for the mosquitoes! Be sure to let me know what you think. I hope you can make just as meaningful of memories as I have while exploring.
